About

Hi, I'm Saurabh Mishra.

I've spent the last decade building and leading engineering teams, and I'm increasingly interested in the intersection between technical systems and organizational design. Most of my career has been focused on the question of how engineering organizations can make consistently good decisions as they scale, both technical decisions about architecture and process, and people decisions about structure and culture.

What I've learned is that engineering leadership is less about having the right answers and more about asking better questions. How do you balance team autonomy with organizational coherence? What's the relationship between technical architecture and communication patterns? How do you evolve culture intentionally rather than accidentally as teams grow?

I write about these questions here, partly to think through them more clearly, and partly because I've benefited enormously from other engineering leaders sharing their thinking openly. The ideas I explore here come from direct experience leading teams, but also from observing patterns across the industry and thinking about what might be generally applicable versus context-specific.

This blog is intentionally focused on longer-term thinking rather than immediate tactical advice. I'm more interested in frameworks that help navigate ongoing challenges than solutions to specific problems. And I'm particularly interested in ideas that might help advance how we think about engineering leadership as a discipline.

Thanks for reading along.
